Installation

  1. How do I install and run MyHomeTutor™ CD?

    Solution

    Download Installation & Activation guide
    Step 1 : User Account Control for Windows Vista
    Important : Turn off your User Account Control before installing product. Follow the instructions below.
    1. Click "Start".
    2. Go to Control Panel.
    3. Change Control Panel to "Classic View".
    4. Click "User Accounts".
    5. Check that your account is an "Administrator" (If not, please switch to another user with Administrator rights)
    6. Click "Turn User Account Control on or off".
    7. Click "Continue" on the pop-up box.
    8. Remove tick from the checkbox.
    9. Click "OK".
    10. Click "Restart Now" to automatically restart your computer.
    User Account Control for Windows 7
    Important : Change your User Account Control settings before installing product. Follow the instructions below.
    1. Click "Start".
    2. Go to Control Panel.
    3. Click "User Accounts and Family Safety".
    4. Click "User Accounts".
    5. Check that your account is an "Administrator" (If not, please switch to another user with Administrator rights)
    6. Click "Change User Account Control settings".
    7. Pull the slider down to "Never Notify".
    8. A pop-up box appears, click "Continue".
    9. Click "OK".
    10. Click "Restart Now" to automatically restart your computer.
    For Windows XP and below, proceed to Step 2

    Step 2 : Insert the CD into the CD-ROM / DVD drive.
    ( If product comes with 2 discs, always insert Disc 1 first to run the setup wizard )

    For Windows XP and below
    A setup wizard should automatically appear.

    For Windows Vista and Windows 7
    Click "Run CD Director" when the pop-up dialog box appears, to run the setup wizard.

    If the wizard did not appear, check whether you have installed your product by clicking "Start" > "All Programs" > "Blue Orange". If the product is there, then you do not need to install it again.

    If product is not in the All Programs > Blue Orange, to manually run the setup wizard, click "Start" > "Run" and in the Open text box type D:\setup (where D:\ is the letter of your CD-ROM / DVD drive)
    Step 3 : Follow the instructions given in the setup wizard to complete the installation process.
  2. When installing MyHomeTutor™ products on Windows XP, the following error dialog box appears: "c:\windows\system32\CONFIG.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications"

    Problem

    The system file config.nt or autoexec.nt is either missing or corrupted and needs to be replaced.

    Solution

    1. Copy either config.nt or autoexec.nt mentioned in the error message from c:\windows\repair folder.
    2. Paste the file into c:\windows\system32 folder.
    3. Continue installation of MyHomeTutor™ product.

Activation

  1. How do I activate MyHomeTutor™ products?

    Note : Install the product before doing activation.

    Solution

    Download Installation & Activation guide
    1. Click "Start".
    2. Go to "All Programs".
    3. Go to "Blue Orange".
    4. Click the name of the MyHomeTutor product that you are going to activate. Eg: Ace Your Composition
    5. When you see the Welcome dialog box, click "OK".
    6. Click "Register" and enter the 16 digit CD-Key into the empty boxes.
    Note : CD-Key is the 16 digit number printed on your instruction sheet found in the CD box.
    7. Click "OK" to proceed to activation.
    8. Click either "Phone Activate" / "Continue" / "Next" (Button namings vary according to product versions)
    9. Take note of the 3 or 5 digit Client Product key found on the screen.
    10. Obtain Activation key via website - Click here to go to the activation page.
      Obtain Activation key via phone   - Call technical support at 6341 5517 ( Mon - Fri, 9 to 6pm )
    11. Upon obtaining the Activation key, enter it into the product and click either "OK" / "Activate" to complete the activation process.
  2. Unable to activate MyHomeTutor™ on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    Problem

    For Windows Vista and Windows 7, the User Account control is preventing MyHomeTutor™ products from registering and activating properly. MyHomeTutor™ will prompt an error "Product is not properly installed. Runtime error.." when you double-click the icon to launch the program.

    Solution

    For MyHomeTutor™ products to be properly registered and activated, follow the steps below to turn off the User Account Control.
    For Windows Vista
    1. Click "Start".
    2. Go to Control Panel.
    3. Change Control Panel to "Classic View".
    4. Click "User Accounts".
    5. Check that your account is an "Administrator" (If not, please switch to another user with Administrator rights)
    6. Click "Turn User Account Control on or off".
    7. Click "Continue" on the pop-up box.
    8. Remove tick from the checkbox.
    9. Click "OK".
    10. Click "Restart Now" to automatically restart your computer.

    For Windows 7

    1. Click "Start".
    2. Go to Control Panel.

    6. Click "Change User Account Control settings".
    7. Pull the slider down to "Never Notify".

    10. Click "Restart Now" to automatically restart your computer.
    or if you only have a few products, follow these steps instead :
    1. Right-click the icon on the Desktop
    2. Click "Run as administrator"
    3 You will be able to go in to proceed to activate the product.
  3. Unable to activate MyHomeTutor™ products when clicked on "Online Activate" / "OK" button.

    Problem


    A direct link to our Activation server is no longer available, follow the solution below to proceed with activation.

    Solution

    1. Click on the "Phone Activate" / "Continue" button.
    2.

    You will then see a 3 or 5 digit Client product key (see Figure 3.1).
    Take note of the Client Product Key number. Proceed to generate the activation key.

    3. Generate activation key via Web
    1. Launch your web browser (eg. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari)
    2.

    Type in the address bar, http://www.myhometutor.org/activation.html or click here to go to the activation page.

    3. Follow the steps in the webpage to generate your activation key.
    4. Upon obtaining the activation key from the website, type the activation key number into the window where you saw your Client Product key earlier (see Figure 3.1)
    5. Click "OK".

    OR

     

    Generate activation key via Phone

    1. Call our Technical support line at +65 6341 5517 (Monday - Friday, 9 to 6pm)
    2.

    Quote the 16 digit CD-Key and the 3 or 5 digit Client Product key number that you saw earlier.

    4. Upon obtaining the activation key from the technical support consultant, type the activation key number into the window where you saw your Client Product key earlier (see Figure 3.1)
    5. Click "OK".

Playing / Running MyHomeTutor™

  1. Using MyHomeTutor™ for the 1st time.

    Note : MyHomeTutor™ products must be installed into your computer before you can view the lessons. See Installation : 1. How do I install and run MyHomeTutor™ CD? for steps on the installation process.

    Solution

    1. Click "Start".
    2. Go to "All Programs".
    3. Go to "Blue Orange".
    4. Click the name of the MyHomeTutor™ product that you are going view Eg: Primary Mathematics 1A Lesson
    5.

    The MyHomeTutor™ topic list area will launch. (See Figure 1.1)

    If you have not registered and activated the product, a Welcome dialog will appear prompting you to register. For steps on registration and activation, see Activation : 1. How do I activate MyHomeTutor™ products?

    6. Place the MyHomeTutor™ CD into your CD-ROM / DVD drive.
    7. Double-click on the topic OR click on the topic once and click "Open" to view the videos.
  2. Unable to play video on Windows XP Reduced Media Edition.

    Problem

    The system is missing certain file(s) needed to play video.

    Solution

    1. Look under c:\windows\system32 for the following files
    - msdxm.ocx
    - wmpdxm.dll
    - wmp.dll
    2. If any of the files are missing, you have to download the files from here, unzip and copy them to c:\windows\system32.
    3. Click on the "Start" button, then "Run". In the "Run" dialog box input the following commands one at a time.
    - "regsvr32 msdxm.ocx"
    - "regsvr32 wmpdxm.dll"
    - "regsvr32 wmp.dll"
  3. After clicking on the topic list and clicked “Open”, nothing happens.

    Problem

    Most probably you would have clicked on the book icon ( ) instead of the paper icon ( ).

    Solution

    Click on the paper icon to launch the videos. Book icons are just the headers for the the topics and upon clicking will just expand or collapse the topic list.
  4. After clicking open, the program stops at "Please wait while loading" screen.

    Problem

    Windows Media Player is likely to be corrupted.

    Solution

    Reinstall or upgrade to a newer version of Windows Media Player. Click here to go to Microsoft website to download the latest Windows Media Player.

Other Issues

  1. Can I replace my CD if it is defective?

    Solution

    You can request for a replacement within 14 days from the date of purchase, providing failure has not occured as a result of accident, abuse and misapplication of the product.

    We shall issue a replacement CD on return of the defective product and all related packaging, documentation and original purchase receipt to Blue Orange Pte Ltd.
  2. How do I activate MyHomeTutor™ products if the company closes down?

    Solution

    In the unlikely event that the company closes down, we will enable free activation for all customers.
